Well, the rising R&B star proved once again on Wednesday night (Nov. 2) that the praise is well-placed with a dramatic, emotional take on his popular single "Weight in Gold" on The Late Late Show. Backed by a string section and full band and seated on a velvet couch in the middle of a candle-lit living room set, the singer opened the performance in the shadows, emerging into the light as the stage exploded in rotating spotlights during the song's gilded chorus. Drawing whoops from the studio audience when he unleashed those high notes, the singer's urgency rose as the song proceeded, leading up to a bizarre moment when he took a moment to pour some water from a plastic bottle into a prop plant.
